Joe's Megasquirt Project

MegaSquirt Project

I finished (?) a new project. I installed fuel injection in my 1984 Chevrolet K10.

My fuel injection setup consists of a 355 GM V8 with Vortec heads, GM Performance Parts Ramjet 350 intake, MegaSquirt computer and the necessary high pressure fuel system.

So what's MegaSquirt you ask? It's a do-it-yourself fuel injection computer. This is an open-source hardware project with a couple a lead designers and many many contributors. The Megasquirt system is very easy to use, can be modified and is inexpensive compared to any other aftermarket fuel injection controller. It has many of the features found on high end commercial systems for about 10% of the cost. It interfaces with a serial port on a laptop computer for tuning but works completely independently under normal running conditions. You do have to assemble the parts yourself, but that's actually much of the system's beauty. There is no 'magic black box' if you take the time to understand what's in the box, and why it's there. The design of computer and the code is all fully documented and available. You can made modifications to suit your exact needs. This is a proven system, hundreds if not thousands of people have built and are running this system. Some have logged over 50k miles since the system was introduced in 2001.
