1977-1981 Chevy Sport Pickup

The Chevy Sport pickup, like the GMC Street Coupe, was not really a special edition. The Chevy Sport was a dressup option (RPO Z77) added to the Chevy line in 1977. Because this was an option, there are probably no two Chevy Sport pickups the same, depending on what other options were ordered by the dealers or the person who special ordered one of these trucks.

The Chevy Sport option was fairly consistent for all the years it was offered. The Chevy Sport package was offered on short bed stepside and fleetside trucks in 2wd or 4x4. It consisted of an exterior package consisting of two tone paint (except 1977) separated by tape stripes with the Chevy Sport logo, bumpers painted body color with impact strips, black grille with chrome (for 77 through 79, unique chrome grille for 1980) hood ornament, and required the Scottsdale trim level. The interior was standard Scottsdale fare with carpeting. The Chevy Sport didn't include any special engine or other options, so some were six cylinder trucks, while others had a 454 V-8. The most popular engine for these model years was by far the 350 V-8, so most Chevy Sport pickups will probably be found with that engine.

The Chevy Sport was documented in the normal pickup and full line dealer brochures, I have not found a separate brochure just for these models.

Known color schemes for Chevy Sport trucks:
1977 Black or Blue
1978 White/Burgundy or Black/Yellow
1979 Yellow/Tan or Deep Blue/Hawaiian Blue
1980 Silver/Black or Brown/Tan
1981 Black/Silver or Brown/Gold
Other color combos were likely available but are not documented in the pickup brochure.

Note: the Chevy Sport is shown in the 1981 Chevy pickup brochure. This makes this one of very few special 1981-1987 trucks as they seem to be much more standardized with fewer special options. If you have one of these, or have seen one email me.
